To get your e-vignette Slovenien, you have two convenient options. You can go to a gas station near the border or a Dars service station, where you can buy and activate the e-vignette Slovenien for your vehicle.
This change benefits users because it is no longer necessary to stick a sticker on the car’s windshield in a visible place, but everything has been transformed into a digital format, which is easier to manage and use.

As mentioned before, the vignette Slovenia can be purchased exclusively online from 2023. You have the option to purchase it yourself or to request assistance for this procedure.

Fine for vignette Slovenia
The fine for non-payment of vignettes in Slovenia is between 300 and 800 euros.
An important advantage is that if you pay the fine on the spot or within 8 days, its value is reduced by half. Thus, those who pay the fine quickly benefit from a significant reduction of the payment amount.

Tolls device DarsGo
In Slovenia, vehicles with a mass of more than 3.5 tons are obliged to use an electronic system called DarsGo, which automatically calculates the tolls corresponding to the route traveled.
To obtain this DarsGo device, similar to the one in Slovakia, drivers must request this service upon entering the country, either at a gas station or a Dars service station. For this procedure, a processing fee of 10 euros is charged.
To obtain the DarsGo device, it is necessary to present the registration certificate of the vehicle, as well as a document certifying its emission class.
In addition, there is the possibility to make an online request to receive the DarsGo device at home, before traveling to Slovenia.

Vehicle categories for vignette Slovenia
For vehicles over 3.5 T, the categories are:
R3 – Tax category two – Motor vehicles with three axles and whose maximum permissible weight exceeds 3,500 kg and groups of three-axle vehicles whose maximum permissible weight of the towing vehicle exceeds 3,500 kg.
R4 – Tax category three – Motor vehicles with more than three axles and whose maximum permissible weight exceeds 3,500 kg and groups of vehicles with more than three axles and whose maximum permissible towing vehicle weight exceeds 3,500 kg.

The DarsGo device in Slovenia automatically calculates the amount you have to pay when using motorways or expressways. The total network is 623 kilometers long, of which 128 kilometers are toll sections.
The cost of road tax in Slovenia depends on the following aspects:
- Traveled distance;
- Number of vehicle axles;
- Emission class of the vehicle;

You have the option to pay the cost of the tax in advance or at the end of the trip. If you pay in advance, the unused credit will be returned to you in the form of an invoice. However, you must keep in mind that there is a fee of 6 euros for issuing the invoice, so amounts less than or equal to this value will not be refunded.
